Past Lives: 11 Signs Your Soul Has Reincarnated Many Times. by Shannon Yrizarry.

The soul is not born; it does not die; it was not produced from anyone…; Unborn, eternal, it is not slain, though the body is slain.  – Katha Upanishad

I am certain that I have been here as I am now a thousand times before, and I hope to return a thousand times.  – Goethe

We observe the principles of reincarnation everywhere in life:  the cycles of nature, day and night, the cyclic motion of the sun, earth, moon and solar system.  We also see the principles of reincarnation reflected around us each day: a plant grows, dies and releases its seeds.  Its seeds burrow into the earth, begin to sprout, and new life is reborn once again.

Reincarnation, or the rebirth of energy, or life, occurs all around us in different shapes and forms every day.  Perhaps this is why to many of us reincarnation is something intuitive, something that resonates the very nature, the very essence of life.  We also see that our lives, and everything around us, follows a fundamental pattern; that of change, growth, transformation, and evolution.  We see that all of life goes through a maturing process at different rates and different velocities.  Thus to many of us, the maturation process of the soul through the process of reincarnation sounds just as instinctively and fundamentally correct as any other maturing process in life.

Not only that, but some of us have experienced extraordinary feelings, memories and sensations that point to the legitimacy of such a mysterious experience.  We will be exploring many different signs that you might have touched the “other side” in this article.

12 Signs Your Soul Has Reincarnated

When we understand reincarnation as the maturation process, or evolution, of soulful energy, it follows that some of us have intuitively experienced different things in our lives that reflect on the age of the energy known as our souls.  It is commonly believed that many of our personal characteristics, experiences and capabilities in this life reflect on whether we have lived before on earth.  It is thought that the more we mature, the more gifted we are in certain areas of life and the more often we go through spiritual awakening experiences.

The truth is that all of us have most likely reincarnated, however, some of us have gone through this cycle more than others and therefore experience many of the following characteristics:

1.  Recurring Dreams

Dreams are reflections of the unconscious mind, and while repetitive dreams may sometimes signify trauma, fear or issues that your brain is trying to process (“unfinished business”), repetitive dreams can also potentially be reflections of past life experiences.  Many people claim to have experienced certain events, seen particular people or gone to specific places frequently in their dreams that feel very familiar, and somehow recognizable.  For example, I often have recurring dreams of a 15th century castle that I have a distinct feeling of knowing very well, yet I have never seen or been to this castle before in waking life.

 2.  Out-of-place Memories

There are many recorded instances of young children who have out-of-place memories that later prove to be oddly accurate in detail.  While out-of-place memories could be due to simple fantasies, misunderstandings or an incongruency in the ability to remember, there is mounting evidence that suggests out-of-place memories could reveal connections to past lives.

3.  You Have a Strong Intuition

Intuition is the ability to balance the conscious and unconscious mind and to tap into our deeper wellsprings of primal wisdom and innate knowledge.  It is said that the more we soulfully mature, the more we are closer to returning to the ‘source’ (known also as nirvana, eternity, oneness) from which our Souls come from, and from which the collective unconscious  – a body of universal knowledge – exists.

4.  Déjà vu

We’ve all experienced déjà vu before at some point in our lives.  It’s that bizarre feeling that somehow we have already experienced or lived a moment in time before.  Often déjà vu comes spontaneously, and is triggered by smells, sounds, sights, tastes and various other sensations.  While some claim that déjà vu is a neurological dissonance, others claim that déjà vu reflects the possibility of other dimensions (i.e. parallel universes), and still others believe it is revealing of past life experience.

5.  You’re an Empath

Empaths absorb the emotions, and in some instances the physical pains, of those around them literally empathizing, or directly feeling and experiencing what others experience.  In this article about  Empaths I go into greater depth about this unique breed of people.  While identifying as an Empath and absorbing the emotions of others could be seen in some instances as a psychological form of avoidance to bypass one’s own problems and pin the blame on others, in other genuine cases it can be seen as a sign of a soul that has undergone many previous reincarnations and has refined to the point of transcending the individual self and it’s problems, extending to others as well.

6.  Precognition

Also known as ‘future sight’ or ‘second sight’, precognition is the ability to obtain information about future events that isn’t usually available.  Precognition can be experienced through visions, physical sensations and feelings as well as in dreams.  While considered quasi-scientific by some, to others precognition is a very real experience and could indicate the maturation of soulful energy.

7.  Retrocognition

You probably guessed it!  Retrocognition is the opposite of the above precognition, and refers to the ability to obtain information not usually available about past events.  These past events could be in your own lifetime, or sometime in the distant past.  Of course, retrocognition unlike precognition is not easy to prove or verify, however, for those who have genuinely experienced it (and have been able to honestly verify it), this ability could also be a sign of soulful reincarnation.

8.  You Feel Older Than Your Age Reflects

Some people are perpetually “young at heart” even into their later lives, and in the same manner,  some people just seem to have been born with “Old Souls”.  The experience of feeling older than your age reflects is commonly associated with having reincarnated many times over and this is echoed in the “Soul Age” theory where there is a certain progression of soulful development: from Infant Souls, to Awakened Souls.  For example: if you have reincarnated few times on earth, this would be reflected in the age of your energy, and in this life you will display many primitive and child-like characteristics.  If, however, your soulful energy has reincarnated many times over, you will display many matured and wizened characteristics (such as the ones mentioned in this article).  If you feel older than your age reflects you might be a Mature or Old Soul.

9.  You Have a Great Affinity for Certain Cultures/Time Periods/Environments

It is said that having a great, unexplainable attraction for certain cultures or time periods is a kind of past life “residue” reminiscent of a certain place, culture or environment that your soul may have experienced in past lives.  For instance, you may have an inexplicable affinity to Asian culture, Celtic artifacts, or the 19th century.

10.  Unexplainable Fears or Phobias

As touched on in the last point, many believe that certain memories or experiences can pass on or leave “residues” in our childhoods and adulthood’s from past lives.  Whether this is true, or is simply a form of problem bypassing, many believe that we can experience the echoes of past traumas in our own lifetimes in the form of unexplainable fears and phobias.  Examples can include:  the fear of drowning, the fear of certain types of animals, the fear of certain places, the fear of particular numbers, colors, objects, and so forth.

11.  You Feel as Though this Earth Is Not Your Home

The yearning to find your ‘home’ can be seen as a reflection of the desire to return back to the source (oneness, consciousness, divinity).  Many people feel this yearning to be reminiscent of an athlete running a long race and longing to reach the ‘finish line’.  In the same manner, Souls that have reincarnated many times over express this basic need for finally completing the cycle and returning home.  Feeling that this earth is not your home is often accompanied by chronic feelings of tiredness and wariness for life on earth.

Could you relate to any of these signs?  Do you have any of your own to share?  I hope, if anything, this article could offer you another doorway of explanation for what you experience in life.  Reincarnation is a mysterious topic, and I’d love if you could share your own experiences with past lives below.

How Past Life Healing Can Help You

Many of our neuroses and deep-rooted issues in our relationships and emotional life come from past life memories stored in the soul. The soul work we do to clear the memories that are replaying in our unconscious and creating behaviors in our waking life, can free us from deep emotional pain that keeps us from living confidently, openly and without shame. If we did something we are carrying guilt about, we will often be punishing ourselves. If we were wronged or betrayed, we will often mistrust everyone. There are many fears and unbalanced thinking patterns that can stem from experiences not accessible in our waking consciousness.

Here are some typical daily life problems that could be resolved using past life healing:

  • Excessive anger towards a person or group
  • Phobias or anxieties that are debilitating or unexplained
  • Difficulties making decisions
  • Feeling unworthy of love or recognition
  • Excessive neediness or codependency
  • Tendencies to self-isolate or push others away
  • Feeling a need to save everyone or fix everything
  • Afraid to commit to things or finalize plans
  • Chronic pain or inexplicable health conditions
  • Inability to hold a job or provide for oneself
  • Holding onto money, hoarding, or extreme fear of poverty
  • Unexplained grief or sadness
  • Obsessive behaviors or addictions
  • Suspicion of spiritual topics or people trying to help you
  • Attracting strange experiences/having bad luck

Of course, some of these behaviors can come from childhood trauma and environmental conditioning in this life as well. Past lives are not the only place that we look for healing but they are able to help us find a lot of healing if we can’t find the root cause of something in this lifetime. Other places include ancestral karma or some things we carry in our genetic DNA.

The last bullet point is actually a major part of our daily lives that much of the work of past life healing is able to help with. Based on the law of attraction, our own energy attracts similar energy. Healing our deepest negative memories will free us from attracting people and experiences with the same vibration. It’s safe to say, there are plenty of benefits from healing your past lives but just how is that done?

First, you’ll want to identify an issue in your life that you’ve noticed you are struggling with or something you want to overcome. If you’re not sure what to focus on, that’s OK too. Once you have a clear idea of what you want to heal in your life, you can create a question in your mind about it. Let’s say you’re having one bad relationship after another and you keep trying to save people who don’t want help in your relationships. The question would simply be, “why do I keep doing this?”

Or perhaps it’s a fear you are dealing with or you’re feeling stuck. Phrase the issue as a question in your mind such as, “what memory is causing this,” or “why am I experiencing this?” Then grab a journal for your past life healing meditation.

Take a few deep breaths in and out of your nose to relax your body and calm the mind. Feel yourself sitting in the room and feel as though there is an energy around the surface of your body. Feel that energy connecting to all the energy around it, in the atmosphere and in space. Bring your mind to outer space where you are free from the thoughts of your life.

Ask your soul to show you a memory which relates to your question or the memory that needs to be healed the most. Breathe and allow the memory to come to you. Just let the movie you are shown play without judging. You will often be very surprised at what you see. Now ask your soul how this relates to your question or how it’s affecting your life today. Write down what your soul reveals about this.

Now it is time to release all of the energy you’re holding about this memory. Visualize now that the memory dissolves completely leaving a blank space that you can now fill with a healing story. What could have happened that would have been peaceful, positive and not traumatic? What story do you want to replace the memory with that will give you better energy in your life today? We may have lived in different times and had many faces, but the lessons we learn in life experiences have energy we can relate to and lessons we may still need to finally learn. For example, if someone did something to our family, we don’t have to be angry anymore because it doesn’t help anyone, including ourselves.

Once you’ve given yourself the new memory and can see how it is positive and healing energy that now feeds your life today, that’s it. You’ve completed your first past life healing and you did a great job. Many people miss out on this huge area of energetic healing and suffer a great deal because of it. If you make this a tool that you use regularly, you’ll find it will become a great way to transform your life. Be sure to always be intentional, calm and take your time. When you’re ready to come back to the room, take a deep breath and slowly open your eyes. Write down how you feel and if you feel the energy you were working on dislodged or if you somehow feel free of it.

Closing Thoughts…

An important thing to mention about past life healing is how the ego can trip us up. The ego is not something that helps us heal. It is not very smart and wants us to feel important because it is the part of our mind that separates us from our soul. In many ways the ego functions to help us get through our day and not be out in space overwhelmed with spiritual information. However, we do also need to put a check and balance on the ego to make sure it doesn’t meddle in our own healing process.

The ego will show up in your meditations in a few typical ways. It will show you that you were someone famous which is only going to feed your self-importance and is actually not a real visit to a past life, or it will block the meditation by creating confusion. People who are insecure often see themselves as important people in past lives because the ego wants to prove their self-worth. However, you will see the lessons you learned and what is left to learn in a real past life regression and the identity, if it was someone important, will be hidden from you because it will not help you. This egotism can be ameliorated by having a pure intention going into your meditation to find a way to take responsibility for your energy and shift it.

To continue understanding past lives, check out a book called Healing Your Past Lives: Exploring The Many Lives of The Soul by Roger Woolger, Ph.D. You may also find some inspiration and motivation to explore past life healing by watching the movie Cloud Atlas. It has a star-studded cast including Tom Hanks and Halle Berry. The movie shows how two souls keep meeting in different lives and how the energy and choices shape their soul over the course of many lifetimes. It is a very inspiring movie (thank you Hollywood).

Hopefully, you are ready to continue to learn about healing your past lives. You can use it for personal grown and learning about the true nature of the soul even if life is good and problems are scarce. And finally, if you’re a person who needs empirical evidence, there are many stories of people remembering their past lives and then verifying facts they could not have otherwise known!

“I am safe because God watches over me. I release my self-imposed duties of security and observation to Spirit, and trust that my guides will inform me when I need to act.”

The ten main Past Life patterns that may require healing if you are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)

During the last ten years I have noticed certain ‘themes’ developing with HSP clients who have come for regression therapy. They have come to find the answers to unexplained fears, irrational thoughts and present day problems. As a result of my own research and records, the top ten most common past life themes and possible causes that are affecting the lives of HSPs today appear to be:

*Insecurity and Abandonment Fears: these have resulted from past lives where they have literally been abandoned or orphaned; they may have experienced being separated from loved ones because of crisis, battles, wars etc.

*Lack of self-love, self-worth: This is usually linked to lifetimes of feeling ‘different’ to others and not fitting in. They have been seen as the ‘Outsider’ and have therefore lived solitary lives through choice or have been forced to live outside of society by those who misunderstood their gifts and abilities.

*Depression/ Low energy: this can be a result of losing a loved one in a past life, unresolved grief, past life suicides or feelings of despair.

*Deeply ingrained ‘Guilt’: this can be the result of past lives where they have been responsible for another’s death e.g. making a ‘wrong’ decision.

*Loss of Power: this can be the result of carrying guilt due to making wrong decisions. However, in their past life history Essentives have also misused their power, their psychic gifts or abilities either in retaliation or for personal gain. Therefore in subsequent lives they subconsciously find ways to lose their power so this wont happen again.

*Abuse: physical, mental, emotional or sexual abuse in past lives. These lifetimes often have unresolved feelings around powerlessness and unexpressed rage. There is also a link to past lives around torture.

*Fear (including phobias and anxiety disorders) are usually caused by past life traumas including drowning, being burnt to death or buried alive.

*Fighting for justice: due to having many past lives of persecution for their religious or spiritual beliefs, many HSPs continue to ‘fight’ against authority or injustices that trigger these old Soul wounds. Many feel ‘battle-weary’ in this life and are tired of ‘having to fight’ for what’s right, the truth etc.

*Chronic Health issues: can be cellular memories of injuries, accidents or deaths that have remained unhealed.

*Family /Relationship difficulties: these are often linked to issues around power and betrayal or karmic imbalances that need to be settled.

HSPs can heal these Soul wounds and deeply engrained patterns that are been affecting them lifetime after lifetime, through the transformational work of Past Life Regression.
